FAQ
We’ve put together a sizing chart to make finding the right cover as simple as possible.
With your existing cover removed, measure the length of your ironing board top from the nose to the rear. Then measure the ironing board top width, ensuring this is taken from the widest point. Using the sizing chart, determine which cover size will best suit your board.
If you’re still unsure about which size to pick, or your ironing board size falls outside this range, send us an email at info@boredhome.com.
We’ve built our cover range around the most common ironing board shapes and sizes. If your ironing board falls between these size ranges, get in touch with us before ordering. We’d much rather help you make the right call than have you deal with a return.
Yes. The MELIA fits standard rectangular boards, tapered boards, and most profiles in between.
The drawstring tensioning system has been designed to accommodate varying widths and profiles without bunching or gaping.
The most important factor when selecting a size is to measure your boards length and width. The shape will look after itself.
If your board exceeds 135cm in length, the MELIA cover won't fit in its current size offering (S, M, L).
If your board falls within our size ranges but has an unusual profile, get in touch before ordering. We'd rather help you make the right call than have you deal with a return.
We've tried to keep things simple and familiar. However, there are some techniques that will help achieve a better fit out of the box.
We've put together a short video showing how to fit your cover on our product page which can be viewed here.
If you're having trouble fitting your MELIA cover, please dont hesitate to email us at info@boredhome.com so that we can help you out.
It is to be expected that a heavier textile product will take some time to relax.
As you begin to use your cover, it will begin to settle and conform to the shape of your ironing board. Once it has settled, the 550 paracord may require further tensioning.
Probably not. Most ironing board covers rely on an elastic hem, thin cord, or some combination of both. This works adequately until it doesn't, then fails gradually until you've stopped noticing how frustrating it's become.
The MELIA cover uses a 550 Paracord drawstring tensioned by a strong toggle. It doesn't migrate, it doesn't loosen mid-session, and it doesn't snap. Fit it once and it stays fitted.
Our biggest differentiator that you won't find anywhere else. Three material layers, each chosen for a specific reason.
Top - 100% Cotton Ripstop
Breathable, heat-responsive, and resistant to tearing under sustained use.
Padding - Open Cell Silicone Foam
Holds its structure over time, where conventional polyester wadding compresses and degrades.
Underlay - 100% Polyester Felt
Smooths out diamond perforations and insulates the cover.
Drawstring - 550 Paracord
Braided nylon cord built for load-bearing applications. Tensioned by a locking toggle.
Longer than any cover you've owned before, if you treat it reasonably. The cotton ripstop is designed to resist tearing under normal use, the silicone foam won't compress and lose its resilience, and the paracord won't fray or snap.
The design brief was to make the last ironing board cover you'd need to buy. That's not a marketing line, it's the measure we held every material decision to.
Currently available in Canteen Green and Boring Beige, in Small, Medium, and Large. Additional colourways and sizing options may follow.

Cold hand wash separately with mild detergent. Do not tumble dry. The cotton ripstop will soften slightly with washing, which is normal and won't affect performance.
Like most fabrics, cotton tightens when it dries. Refitting your cover while it's still damp will allow it to dry in place and ease it back to shape.
Wash it only if it needs it, not more frequently than necessary. Avoid ironing directly onto the cover surface without a garment in between. Keep the paracord tensioned properly (a loose fit puts more stress on the fabric than a firm one). Treat it reasonably and it'll last.
Yes. It is an ironing board cover.
